Gaby Beyer – President

Gaby Beyer is the President of the German School of Atlanta and in addition coordinates and organizes all of our events. Gaby relocated to the US in 1992 and both, her son and daughter, attended GSA and graduated with their DSD diplomas. She became actively involved in the school in 1994.

Marlene Daniel – Registrar/Administration

Lives in Atlanta since 2005. Joined the German School in 2005 and started working for the school as the Registrar in 2006.

Susanne Estrella – Principal

Susanne was born in Wolfenbüttel and grew up in Harxbüttel, a tiny suburb in the north of Braunschweig, a city in Lower Saxony, Germany. She received her MBA from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and worked as an accountant and tax consultant for over ten years. She joined the GSA Board of Directors in 2012, and the Faculty in 2013, and is the school’s Principal since July 2016. Further, Susanne is a faculty member in the Department of Foreign Languages, German Studies, at Kennesaw State University. Susanne lives with her husband and their two children in East Cobb and both of their children are attending the German School of Atlanta.

Carsten Alting – Legal Counsel

Carsten Allting is a U.S.-German attorney/Rechtsanwalt who has been living and working in the U.S. since 1996. He is married and has 3 children. His work focuses on advising and assisting foreign companies, namely from Germany, doing business in the U.S.

Britta Kallin – Education Committee

Britta Kallin is a native of Hamburg. She is Associate Professor of German in the School of Modern Languages at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. She has lived in Atlanta since 2000 and her two kids have been attending the German School of Atlanta since 2000.

Dr. Susanne Kelley – Secretary & Education Committee

Susanne Kelley was born in Mainz, Germany and has lived in Atlanta since 2006. She is Associate Professor of German and Coordinator of the German Studies Program at Kennesaw State University. Her two children have attended GSA since 2013.

Katja Lauterbach – Vice President

Was born and raised in Berlin. Holds a degree in Business Administrations and Industrial Engineering. Married, 2 children, and lives since 2005 in the USA, running her own business. ”With two children at the German school of Atlanta it is important for me to support the school in every way possible.” For the school year 2012/13 she was helping to implement an online platform for E-Learning to establish online classes at the school.

Susanne Marsh – Treasurer

Susanne Marsh, CPA, is a partner in the accounting firm of Sklar & Associates, where she specializes in tax consulting and compliance. A native of Hannover, Germany, she also leads the firm’s international practice. Susanne has lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years. She is married, lives in the Northlake area of Atlanta, and has two teenage sons. She has served on the GSA Board since 2011.

Christine Mathews – Librarian

moved to US in 1990 got BS in Hotel & Restaurant Administration at UT Tennessee, Knoxville married with 2 children have been at GSA since 2006 currently responsible for the library at GSA, along with wonderful volunteers.

Peter Noelle – Technology & Fundraising

Peter was born in Berlin in 1963. He is the Executive Director of PROPLANT, Inc., a company that designs and implements integrated processes and systems for production and logistics worldwide. His ties to the German School go back to 1998 when his oldest daughter joined the GSA as a student. Peter is a board member since 2002.

Teri Simmons – Legal Counsel

Teri A. Simmons is a Partner with Arnall Golden Gregory LLP, where she has worked nearly 22 years. AGG employs over 160 attorneys and has offices in Atlanta, Miami and Washington DC. She directs the International/ Immigration Department which focuses on the representation of foreign owned corporations in the United States, both immigrant and non-immigrant visa processing for businesses and families (temporary work visas and green cards), EB-5 Investor visa processing, the immigration consequences of mergers and acquisitions and immigration reform and control act compliance. From 1990 – 1996, Ms. Simmons taught adult classes at the German School, having previously taught first and second year German at the University of Virginia. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and German from Furman University, a Master of Arts degree in German Studies from the University of Virginia, completed post graduate work at the University of Tübingen, Germany and a Juris Doctor at the University Of Georgia School of Law. She is fluent in written and spoken German and serves on the boards of the Atlanta Sister Cities Commission, German American Chamber of Commerce, German Cultural Foundation, Atlanta Council for International Relations and the Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce. The Federal Republic of Germany awarded her the national German Friendship award and the City of Nürnberg presented her with the International Prize of Honor.

Nadine Vaughan – Volunteer Coordinator

Nadine Vaughan grew up in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt and after her bank apprenticeship with Norddeutsche Landesbank earned her Bachelor in Business-Law from Anhalt University, Bernburg, Germany. She moved to the US in 2002 and has since continued her banking career with Wells Fargo Bank N.A., where she works as a Trade Finance Relationship Manager in the Global Banking Group. Nadine first came in contact with the GSA in 2009 when her daughter started in the Spielgruppe. She has served on the board since 2011.
